FAQs
Photography Only
How do I reserve my wedding date? Couples often book a
year or more in advance, so call us today if you want to check your date’s
availability. Couples are welcome to visit Isabelle at her Mellieha
studio in order to see sample albums and discuss requirements. A non-refundable
booking fee of Euro 250 is required to reserve your day. Once this fee has been
received and the contract signed, that day is yours and no other bookings will
be taken. The remainder of the payment is due 30 days before the wedding. Dates
are booked on a first-come basis.
After I’ve booked you, what happens next? Next, a Pre-Wedding
Shoot is scheduled. This is a good chance for you and Isabelle to get to know
each other and for you to gain confidence in front of the lens.
Where does the Pre-Wedding Shoot happen? Either at the wedding
venue or somewhere in Mellieha or any one venue that
means something to the two of you.
What if we don’t want a Pre-Wedding Shoot? Most people have
never been professionally photographed before. The wedding day is not the time
to start! A Pre-Wedding Shoot allows you to relax in front of the lens and it
gives Isabelle a chance to prove to you that you photograph well. It’s amazing
to watch the transformation in people who said they hated having their
photographs taken into people who can’t get enough of it!
What do we do with our Pre-Wedding Shoot images? Many people use
their Pre-Wedding images in a bespoke Guest Book for people to sign on the
wedding day. We can also provide an image mounted in a large cream mount for
people to sign on the day. Another option is to frame one and give it as a
thank-you gift to parents at the wedding.
How does Isabelle work on the day? Isabelle likes to spend time
with the bride to capture shots of her getting ready (make up, hair, putting
the dress on, etc.). It also provides time for Isabelle to photograph details
of the day, like the bride's shoes and her bouquet. She then goes to the
wedding venue to get some shots of the nervous groom (sometimes she will
actually visit the groom first on the day to get pictures of him getting ready,
etc). Photographs during the ceremony are taken in accordance with the ceremony
officiator's rules. Afterwards, any formal shots are taken as quickly as
possible so that Isabelle can sneak off with the bride and groom for a private
shoot. This also gives the newlyweds a chance to catch their breath and talk to
each other.
How long will Isabelle stay at the wedding? This depends on how
long you’ve booked her for. The 7-hour package is generally sufficient to
provide cover up to the beginning of the wedding breakfast. The 8-hour package
generally covers up to the first dance. Extra hours can be added on for Euro 50
per hour.
Do photographers need to eat? Yes! If Isabelle and her assistant
are staying to photograph the first dance, Isabelle generally requests that
they are seated with your guests at dinner. This allows her to be on the same
schedule as the wedding party, so that she is on hand for the speeches. If
there is an issue with numbers, Isabelle is more than happy to eat in another
room. Just as long as she does eat!
Do I need to give you a long list of photos that I want? The
only images we need you to specify are any family images. Generally, we
recommend that you have no more than five group images, such as the couple with
each of their families and a group shot of all the guests. It is also helpful
if you point out things like, “My friend is playing the trumpet at the wedding,”
so we know to photograph that person as a treasured guest.
When do we get to view our photographs? Within three weeks of
the wedding day, Isabelle will send you a CD with the chosen photographers at
your chosen address..
What do you mean by “unfinished images”? We are trained to use a piece of software
called Adobe Photoshop© to create our unique style of photography. We also use
the software to colour correct the images,
remove any blemishes and make sure everyone’s skin looks lovely and smooth. An
“unfinished image” is one that has not been Photoshopped. All images are Photoshopped
before being printed, either as a reprint or in the album.
How does the album design process work? After you have seen the images, Isabelle and
her dedicated graphic designer will work together to create an album layout
that tells the story of your day. We take the pressure of choosing the images
away from you, as it can be a daunting task for you to make a selection. Of course, if there are images that you definitely
want in the album, please do let us know.
How many images are in the album? As many as it takes to tell your wedding
story! The albums in our packages come with a certain number of spreads, not
images. Some spreads may have ten
images; some may have just one. It depends on the design.
Do we get to approve the album before it gets ordered?
Definitely! This album is going to be your first family heirloom, so we want it
to be perfect. After we have done the design, we will send you a PDF for your approval.
If you want to change a couple of the images or add/remove any spreads, this is
the time to do it. One round of changes is included in your package; multiple
change requests may be chargeable.
What if we want more spreads in our album than came in our
package? You can just add in extra spreads. It’s up to you keep
or remove any extra spreads we design into the album. Each extra spread is Euro
50, which includes the design time, Photoshop work and album space.
How long will it take before we receive our album? It takes 8
weeks from the time that you approve your layout.
Why does Isabelle Mizzi Photography
shoot digitally? Digital technology has
moved on to such a degree that the results are comparable, if not better, than
film. Working digitally also means that Isabelle can start assessing your
photos right away, even before she’s left your wedding. Presently, Isabelle is
using the Canon EOS 400D
with an assortment of Canon and Tamron
lenses.
What if Isabelle is sick or unable to attend on the day? In the unlikely event that Isabelle cannot
attend the wedding, we have a large network of other photographers that we can
ask to step in, pending your approval.
Why does Isabelle work with an assistant? The assistant is there not only to take pictures
of your day, but also to help Isabelle with any special lighting or equipment
at the wedding. This is a non-negotiable part of your package
